Presumed 1874 edition as inscription at front fly states 1877, however includes Preface to First Edition only, dated 1848. Bound in terracotta cloth with smart gilt and black decor. Worn at corners and faded along top edge of boards. Front cover detached from main text block at hinge before Preface. All pages remain intact, clean and easily legible.
