307 pages. Volume 2. Presumed first edition. Good copy, internally very good, with clean pages and firm binding. Tanning to endpapers. Slight tanning to page edges. Portrait frontispiece. Top edge of text block is gilt. Some pages are uncut. Small brown marking to edge of rear paste-down. Well bound in cream cloth with black lettering and illustration. Cloth has darkened with rub and finger marking in many places. Small bumps to corners. Tanning to spine, gilt lettering to spine has faded a little. Small pink spot to front fore-edge.
